GA4 (Google Analytics 4) setup is the configuration of your Analytics property — data streams, key events (GA4's term for what Universal Analytics called goals), and integrations with Search Console, Google Ads, and other relevant platforms — so the data collected is accurate and actually reflects meaningful business activity.

Getting this right from day one matters because GA4's default configuration doesn't automatically track the specific actions that matter to your business — form submissions, key page views, or whatever conversion actions are relevant need to be deliberately configured as key events, not assumed to work out of the box.
